To the Good and Faithful Parent

Train up a child in the way they should go - Christian blogs about biblical parenting written for the good and faithful servant

Parents, we just want to encourage you today by reminding you that your calling as parents is not to make sure your kids are happy. It's not to emphasize your child’s safety. And you are not called to parenting so that your children can grow up and become effective members of society. These things are not bad or ungodly, but they are not the emphasis of your calling as a parent.

The Creator of the universe, your Father in Heaven, has called you to parent children by training them in the way they should go. To avoid exacerbating them, but making sure to bring them up in the "training and instruction of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4)

Do not let this world distract you from that magnificent Holy Spirit-led calling. Do not allow Western culture to make you feel bigoted for "imposing your beliefs on your children." Do not allow the spirit of religion to shame you out of being intentional with biblical instruction. God has spoken in His Word, and He is the One who said He desires godly offspring (Malachi 2:15). Parents, this requires training. It requires hard work on our part to actually show our children what it means to follow Jesus. To put our flesh to death in front of them so that they may see the light of Christ in each of us. It requires complete dependence on the grace and the mercy of God.

God bless you all today. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ carry you through your calling as a parent today.
