No doubt the Good and Faithful are called to obey God, to obey the word of God as it has been revealed to us in Scripture, as the Holy Spirit guides us in our day-to-day lives. But we must separate our status as children of God from our obedience. Meaning that our obedience does not equal our adoption. It isbecause we are adopted and been granted the Spirit of Christ who dwells within us calling out “Abba, Father” that we can now learn obedience.
We want to encourage you today that with or without miracles, if you have the Holy Spirit, you have the One who is able to point you and others to Jesus. This is the greatest ministry of all! To know God, and to make Him known. This is what it means to bless the nations and advance His Kingdom.
We want to encourage you today to embrace your life as a child of God, serving the will of your Father in Heaven. Not to earn His approval. Not to earn your salvation. Not to earn anything at all. But because as a child of the living God, you know that it is a privilege and an honor to serve your Father and glorify His name among the nations.
Jesus then continues with the first proclamation using the word “church”. In doing so He states a fact about the church that shines as true as the day He said it, “and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it”. That’s right, nothing could come against His church. Not even Satan and his kingdom. But what is the church? I am so glad you asked.
